RecoveryGuard Sizing Guide

Simple sizing. Engineered around canine anatomy.

RecoveryGuard sizing was developed using canine anatomical research across a wide range of breeds and body conformations. While extensive engineering supports the system behind the scenes, selecting the correct size requires only two measurements.

✓ Snout Length
✓ Chest Circumference

Sizing Guide

Two Measurements. One Confident Fit.

RecoveryGuard has evaluated a range of breeds and developed these standard sizes as a guide for matching your dog with the best fit. By measuring your dog's A (Chest to Nose Length) and B (Chest Circumference), you can be confident in selecting the right fit.

How to Measure Your Dog

Two simple measurements for confident sizing.

RecoveryGuard Fitting Guide

How to Put On RecoveryGuard

Follow each step carefully to position, secure and assess RecoveryGuard before use.

01

Measure

Confirm the Correct Size

Before fitting, confirm the patient’s RecoveryGuard size using:

  • Chest to Nose Length
  • Chest circumference

Use both measurements when selecting a size.

02

Prepare

Open All Adjustment Panels

Lay RecoveryGuard flat with the adjustable webbing straps facing down, and fully open the hook-and-loop panels before lifting it onto the patient.

This makes it easier to position the vest without pulling or forcing it over the body.

03

Position

Guide the Front Legs Through

With the patient standing naturally, gently guide the legs through the corresponding leg openings.

Make sure the fabric is not twisted and that the openings sit comfortably around the legs.

04

Secure

Fasten the Vest Panels

Wrap the adjustable vest panels around the body and fasten the hook-and-loop closures. The desired fit should be snug like a blanket.

07

Shield Length

Check the Shield Extension

Confirm that the outer edge of the shield extends beyond the tip of the snout.

The patient should not be able to reach around or past the shield toward the protected area.

08

Shield Security

Secure the Shield Adjustment Points

Fasten the shield so that the closed cone hovers closely above the spine.

If it contacts the spine, the shield should be adjusted to the next larger increment.

09

Harness Adjustment

Adjust the Walking Harness

Adjust the integrated harness straps so there is enough length to connect them to a leash.

With the leash attached to both D-rings, there should still be space between the D-rings and the spine.

It is preferable to have more length than to have the straps be too short and constrict the spine.

The harness attachment points can be reduced in length when they are not being used with a leash.

10

Movement Test

Test the Patient’s Movement

Allow the patient to take several supervised steps and confirm they can:

  • Stand naturally
  • Walk without restriction
  • Sit comfortably
  • Lie down comfortably
  • Turn their head within the intended range
  • Move without the vest shifting or rotating
11

Final Assessment

Recheck the Fit

After several minutes of supervised wear, repeat the two-finger check and inspect:

Readjust immediately if you notice pressure, rubbing, restricted movement or excessive shifting.

RecoveryGuard Fitting Guide

Quick Fit Checklist

Review both columns after fitting RecoveryGuard and throughout the patient’s recovery.

Correct Fit

The fit is correct when:

  • Two fingers fit comfortably beneath the vest.
  • There is no pressure along the spine.
  • The vest remains centred.
  • The leg openings do not pinch or rub.
  • The shield extends beyond the snout.
  • The patient can stand, sit, walk and rest comfortably.
  • The system remains secure during supervised movement.

Adjustment Needed

The fit should be adjusted when:

  • The patient’s movement appears restricted.
  • The leg openings rub or pinch.
  • The shield tilts or shifts to one side.
  • The patient can reach the injury site.
  • The straps leave deep impressions.
  • Two fingers cannot fit comfortably beneath the vest.
